Statistics On Immigration Enforcement

Syracuse University recently published a report analyzing the Department of Justice’s prosecutions. The report found that immigration enforcement prosecutions made up over half (54%) of all federal prosecutions during fiscal year 2009.  The nicely presented report also found that:

  • immigration prosecutions are often completed within 2 days (versus 333 days for narcotics prosecutions)
  • 97% of the possible immigration cases are prosecuted by the DOJ (versus less than half for white collar crime)
