Haitian TPS Extended To Haitians Entering US After Earthquake

On May 19, 2011, the Department of Homeland Security extended Haitian Temporary Protected Status (TPS) until January 22, 2013.  Those Haitians who have already obtained TPS status will most likely need to re-register for the status.

An important addition to the Haitian TPS is that TPS is now available to Haitians who entered the United States after the devastating earthquake, but before January 12, 2011.  Previously, only Haitians who were in the US at the time of the earthquake could seek TPS status.

There are many limitations to obtaining Haitian TPS.  If you think you are eligible, please contact a New York City Immigration Attorney to set up a consultation.
