Why Didn’t I Get My I-94 Card?

I94 card Sample“Veterans” of the U.S. immigration system know that when a non-immigrant enters the United States, their passport is stamped and they receive an I-94 card that is often stapled into their passport.  The I-94 card shows how long a person is authorized to remain in the United States and is suppose to be returned to the government when a person leaves the United States.

However, starting in the Spring of this year, many have been confused as to why they have not been receiving an I-94 card when they enter the United States.  (Those who are not confused, more often than not, simply do not know about the the I-94 card).

Beginning April 30, 2013, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency started documenting entry and exit from the United States through “I-94 Card Automation” – which means that instead of providing entrants with a paper I-94 card, the CBP is instead referring entrants to a webpage that, when completed, should provide an entrant with the same information the paper I-94 card possessed.

Entrants who wish to retrieve their I-94 card information should visit the portal on the CBP Website.  Entrants will need to provide some basic personal data, including his/her name, birth date, passport number, passport country, date of entry, and the class or category of last admission to the United States.

The Firm suggests that all entrants into the United States retrieve their information as quickly as possible – as the information will only remain online until the foreign nationals exits the United States.
