City Spends $3.2 Million Defending Unenforcable Immigration Ordinance

In 2007 the Texas city of Farmers Branch initiated an ordinance that banned unlawfully present foreign nationals from renting within the city.  Due to Court changes, the ordinance has yet been enforced.  In fact, a Federal Judge recently ruled against the immigration ordnance (Ordnance 2052) and it is highly doubtful that it will ever be enforceable.

What has the ordinance gotten the city?  So far, $3.2 million in legal fees.  And an additional $600,000 coming this year.

Is this a good use of public money?   When will towns realize that they cannot change immigration law?
