New York State Offers Dreamer Deferred Action Assistance

Following up on his promise, Governor Cuomo’s administration has launched a program to assist individuals apply for the Dreamer Deferred Action initiative that President Obama announced on June 15, 2012.  I personally do not know too much about the New York State program, however its website appears to be a great source for matching potential Dreamer Deferred Action applicants with lawyers and pro bono legal associations who are willing, and able, to assist in the process.

As the New York State Dreamer Program indicates, it is meant to protect New Yorkers from potential abuse by untrained, unauthorized, and illicit individuals who attempt to victimize immigrants by promising them to help, taking exuberant amounts of money, and then disappearing without doing any work.   It is an all too common occurrence.

Well done, New York State.
