DOS Increases All Non-Immigrant Visa Fees

Effective June 4, 2010, the Department of State (DOS) has increased all non-immigrant visa fees.  Previously, the fees were all $131.  Now, the fees vary from $140 to $390 as the DOS has created a tiered fee system.

This fee increase is justified by the Department of State due to the increased costs it is incurring to complete background security checks (and other checks) that are required for it to complete before issuing a visa applicant.

The new fees are:

B2 Tourist Visa: $140

B1 Business Visa: $140

Student and Exchange Visitors (F, M, and J Visas): $140

H Visa (including H-1B): $150

L Visa (Intracompany Transferees): $150

O Visa (Extraordinary Ability): $150

P Visa (Athletes, Artists and Entertainers): $150

Q Visa (International Cultural Exchange Visitors): $150

R Visa (Religious Visa):   $150

K-1 Visa (Fiance Visa): $350

E Visa (Treaty Traders/Treaty Investors): $390
